Save the date, get the friends & family together and do something that makes you feel good to kick start 2013!
Hiya ladies and gents. I have some exciting news for you all. The wonderful Nabil Elouahabi (you probably remember this Moroccan chap from Eastenders) and Yasmin El Derby (the lovely Co-Founder and Festival Director of the London MENA Film Festival) have got together with The British Moroccan society to bring us Nassim Abassi's amazing moroccan film: MAJID.
The film will be playing in The Coronet Cinema, Notting Hill Gate at 12.00pm on Saturday 19th January 2013. So, save the date, get the friends & family together and do something that makes you feel good to kick start 2013!
It's really easy to buy tickets, you can make a donation to The British Moroccan Society who are a registered charity, for £15 each or £10 concessions. These guys do a lot of good work with local charities in Morocco and the money from these tickets are going towards the training of blind teachers in Marrakesh, as well as supporting the education of the two young boys who are lead actors in this film. They're both so cute and talented, they deserve it. I've already bought loads of tickets!
When making the purchase make sure you leave a comment in transaction box and reference 'Majid' and you have to bring a copy of the confirmation email to the event.
PLEASE NOTE, THOSE THAT ARE ON 'ARAB TIME': we're all guilty of it but seriously, to avoid disappointment please make sure you arrive between 12.00-12.15, as there needs to be a prompt start at 12:30 and anyone who is late won't be admitted, even if you have paid for a ticket. And we wouldn't want that. If you have friends and family who are always running on arab time, just pretend the show starts at 11am and you should be covered!
And if that isn't enough to keep you satisfied on what will proably be a cold, wet, dark January. Those who book online will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win 2 nights stay, for 2 people, in the 5 star Delano Hotel in Marrakech. Fingers crossed and good luck!
Don't forget to share this post and the event with all of your friends. Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/
Looking forward to it!
SYNOPSIS:
Alone. Desperate. A young boy struggles to reach his parents. The faceless figures that greet him burst into flames. Majid’s dream is always the same.
As he battles to recall the faded memory of his lost mother and father, the 10 year old slips into disillusionment.
Faced with a world of anger and injustice, Majid roams the streets of Morocco exacting revenge with juvenile pranks. The chaos he leaves in his wake however, has a curious ability of seeking him out.
In trouble and on the run, Majid looks for sanctuary in the protection of his elder brother. Driss unfortunately is not equipped with the paternal skills that his position as the boy’s guardian demands.
